Rental Terms & Conditions
Rental RequestWelcome to Silkinly's archival dress rental program. Our pieces are rare, fragile, and historically significant. By requesting a rental, you agree to the following legally binding terms. These policies exist to protect our garments and ensure a fair, elevated experience for all clients.
1. Rental Duration & Return Requirements
- Standard rental duration is 4 days from the requested start date unless otherwise arranged in writing.
- Items must be returned via the prepaid return label provided and scanned by the carrier on or before the agreed return date.
- Late returns will be charged $25 per day, up to the full retail value of the item.
2. Shipping & Delivery
- Every rental is timed with care to ensure your garment arrives by the selected start date. All rentals are shipped with tracking, and a prepaid return label is included in your package
- Your dress will be shipping in time to arrive by the first day of your rental period.
- Please ensure your rental request includes accurate shipping details. Silkinly is not liable for delays caused by incorrect addresses or missed deliveries.
- If your request is placed less than 5 business days before your rental date, rush shipping fees may apply.
- Delivery windows are based on carrier estimates (UPS or USPS), and we do our best to accommodate specific arrival needs when communicated in advance.
- Silkinly cannot guarantee carrier delivery times, but we commit to shipping with the intention of on-time arrival for your requested start date.
3. Damage, Loss, & Replacement Fees
- Minor signs of wear are expected. However, renters will be charged for any of the following:
- Stains, tears, burns, or visible damage
- Alterations or unauthorized cleaning
- Damaged items will incur a repair fee or replacement cost up to the full retail value.
- Items deemed unrepairable or lost will be charged at full retail value (as listed on the item’s product page).
4. Non-Returns
- If an item is not returned within 10 days of the return due date, the renter will be charged:
- Full retail value of the item
- Any accrued late fees and additional shipping costs
- In cases of refusal to pay or fraudulent activity, legal action will be pursued.
5. Payment Authorization & Liability
- Silkinly uses Stripe to securely store your payment method.
- By submitting a rental request, you authorize Silkinly to charge your card for the following, if applicable:
- Rental fee
- Late return penalties
- Damage or loss replacement
- If your card is declined, you will receive one notice. If updated payment is not received within 48 hours, Silkinly reserves the right to initiate collections or legal recovery proceedings.
6. Fit, Sizing & Refunds
- Every dress listing includes detailed measurements to help you assess fit accurately. Silkinly is happy to assist with sizing questions prior to booking.
- Due to the vintage nature and unique sizing of each garment, we do not offer refunds for items that do not fit.
7. Cancellations
- Cancellations are accepted up to 5 days before the scheduled ship-out date.
- If your item has already shipped, no refunds will be issued under any circumstance.
8. Usage & Styling Restrictions
- Rentals are for personal or creative use only (e.g., photoshoots, events).
- Garments may not be:
- Rented on behalf of third parties
- Sub-rented or resold
- Altered, permanently modified, or damaged through excessive wear
By submitting your rental request and/or completing payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the above terms. This agreement is legally enforceable under applicable U.S. consumer and rental law.
